02 / Biography
Born in 1989 in Güines, Havana, Cuba, Méndez trained in visual arts with a focus on painting at San Alejandro Academy. He moved to Miami in 2016, where he continues to live and work.
Méndez’s paintings explore the sense of disconnection and displacement that can emerge through the changes we experience throughout life. His wooded landscapes and solitary figures become psychological spaces, reflecting the distance we sometimes feel from ourselves, from others, and from the world around us.
There is a quiet tension in his work between the beauty of the landscape and the isolation of the figures—an exploration of belonging, transition, and the human need for connection.
